My DJ Just Died

This song was inspired by a time when a local radio station decided to go totally automated and quit using DJs. They had a little prerecorded voice come on between the songs to do the station I.D.s. It was really lame and failed mirerably. I got the idea for a song that involved a narative about how the DJs wouldn't go quietly so the station resorted to violence to enact their evil plan.

VERSE I

I've been a loyal listener for the last five years
every morning ov every day
I get up an switch on my radio
and I tune in to my favorite DJ

But one morning something was wrong
the familiar voice it had, gone away
I'm not sure that it was by their choice and I'm
afraid they've met wit foul play

CHORUS

I don't want to turn my radio on
my DJ just died and I'm sure gonna miss him
I don't want to turn my radio on
a machine's at the mic and I don't want to listen

VERSE II
When I heard I couldn't believe my ears
radio would never be the same
well it's not as simple as it appears because
music by machine just sounds so lame

All at once the DJs were gone
and there's and auomated voice on between the songs
and it's the same guy 24 hours a day
and he's been on prozac way too long

CHORUS

VERSE III

I turned the dial to see what I could find
but there's a drawback to living around here
We've got two stations on our radio
and the other one doesn't come in too clear

As and audiance were not that bad
demanding we're not, if you know what I mean
just play us some decent songs
and give us something with a pulse talking in between

CHORUS
